JLR ( formally known as Jaguar Land Rover) have announced the return of their in house insurance that is "designed for clients why may be facing challenges with increasing insurance premiums."

The insurance plans began in Ocotber and have seen over 4,000 clients have chosen to insuure their cars through JLR. Vehicles across the JLR lineup can be insured including Defender and Discovery models. Those that wish to insure their Jaguar can do so through Jaguar Insurance.

As a part of this insurance option JLR have shared the latest data with insurance providers. The aim of this is to create more insurance options on the open market.

A spokesperson for JLR said: "Customers of luxuary cars and other items are experiencing an increase in thefts due to organised criminal activity in the UK.

"The desirability of our luxuary vehicles, coupled with concerns about theft, has recently led to challenges in obtaining insurance cover for some clients.

"We are fully comitted to doing everything we can to address this by adopting a multifaceted approach: from our significent investment in vehicle security, to now providing our own insurance."

In order to help secure vehicles, JLR invested over £10 million in November towards security upgrades for the last generation of cars. Currently over 65,000 cars from 2018 onwards that have been elegiable have had the security upgrade.

Cars built from 2022 onwards came with the security came with the security upgrade. According to UK Police data, 9 of the 12,200 new Range Rovers that are currently on the road have been stolen. When looking at the new Range Rover Sport, 13 of the 13,400 on the road have been stolen.

JLR have also offered the following advice to their customers to keep their vehicles safe:

  • Always lock your car when leaving it unattended.

  • Activate the alarm by pressing te lock button twice within three-seconds.

  • Use the InControl Remote app and switch on vehicle lock reminders and Guardian Mode for added security.

  • Ensure the SecureTracker/Secure Tracker Pro is activated.

  • Don't leave the keys where they are easily accessible e.g. by the letterbox but also do not leave them hidden as it is better for your safety that theives do not confront you for your keys.
