Top Gear has stalled as the BBC make announcement about show's future.

In an announcement today, the BBC has taken the decision to "rest" their flagship show after presenter Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff's accident at the Dunsfold Aerodrome while filming for the show in December 2022.

The crash saw Mr Flintoff at the wheel of an open top Morgan super-3 at a reported 130mph according to the Metro. The car flipped and slid down the test track. From this accident Flintoff sustained facial injuries as well as broken ribs.

After the accident, the show's future was left in the balence. Today the BBC has announced that the show "won't return for the forseeable future".

The 34th series of the show was paused while investiagations into the accident were conducted.

In March, the investiagtion concluded and in a release the BBC said: "We have apologised to Freddie and will continue to support him with his recovery.

"There will be a health and safety review of the show, in line with our procedures."

The health and safety review has been completed externally and the BBC have said that the findings of this will not be published.

The BBC went on to say: "We know resting the show will be disappointing for fans, but it is the right thing to do.

"The BBC remians committed to Freddie, Chris and Paddy who have been at the heart of the show since its renassicance in 2019, and we're excited about new projects being developed with each of them."

It is important to remember that this is not the first time that a preseenter on the show has faced a serious injury while filming for the show. In 2006 while filming an item for Top Gear, Richard Hammond crashed while travelling at 288mph in the Vampire jet car, which left him in a coma for two weeks. He was able to recover from his injuries and returned to presenting the show in 2007.

While another user said: "Top Gear ended years ago."
