Earlier in 2021, it was announced that the Co-operative food in Tipton announced that it will be closing.
The shop is in the heart of Tipton at the Tipton Shopping Centre. This store has acted as a community hub for the residents of the town, so naturally when they found out that this store would be closing it left residents asking what will be done with the soon to be empty building.
When asked about this, residents said, "It will be a shame to see this shop go, it gives us independence to go and get the small things that we need rather than relying on family and friends.” This shop allows people of all backgrounds to go and meet, so it plays an essential role within the community.
There is still plenty of speculation as to what will be done with the unit once the Co-Operative store closes. It does leave the employees there without a job when the store does close.
