Road safety week has been launched in the West Midlands with the aim to reduce serious injuries on roads by 40%. West Midlands Fire Service is running the campaign.
Station Commander Matt Ling said: "We aim to reduce the number of those killed or seriously injured by 2028." The Office of National Statistics have released in 2019, 23,529 people were killed or seriously injured while using the roads, 2,831 were in the West Midlands region.
During their road safety campaign, West Midlands Fire Service have asked members of the public to send in the ways that they keep themselves and others safe on the roads to @westmidsfire.
The charity behind road safety week, Brake www.brake.org.uk , was set up to help those that have been affected by bereaved and seriously injured due to road crashes. They are also working with schools, organisations, and communities to help make the roads a safer place for everyone.
Curzon Street, located next to Birmingham City University which is a busy road used by students to get to and from university.
